Fritton Lake XC Duathlon Race Report (December 2012)

Race 1 – 9th December 2012
Congratulations to all those that braved the cold and muddy conditions for the first race in the Fritton Lake Winter Duathlon Series.  Some fast and furious racing saw Lee Cook form Rock Estate stamp his authority on the race after exiting transition 1 in second place and then building a lead of nearly two minutes on the bike.  leaving himself plenty of time to breeze through the second run increasing his lead to take the win by 2.5mins.  Ian Chatten of Iceni Velo finished in second place after making up 6 places on the bike leg with enough time in hand not to be troubled on the second run.  Third place went to Marcus Hawkins from Ryston Runners who after a steady performance on the bike was able to make up 4 places on the second run and just stay ahead of young Alfie Foster who put in the two fastest runs of the day.   Claire Martin was untroubled in the race finishing well ahead of her nearest challenger to take the win for the ladies while Carly Jermy took second place just ahead of Louise Goddard.
The course provided a great mix of fast racing and technical challenges that lead to some great racing.- looking forward to the next one in January” – Simon Edwards
